Introduction
The Angels of Georges Braque (AgB) was founded by Pete Nevin & Mikel Horl in 1994 in order to contribute to the advancement and evolution of the graphic arts. The range of exhibitions that followed allowed the group to debate the diverse forms that constitute the graphic arts and create a dialogue about relevant contemporary issues.
The work exhibited by AgB is not compartmentalised and is transmedia based. Whilst as graphic artists they continue to explore forms such as etching, engraving, lino-cut and silkscreen, they often work between media, integrating digital, interactive and traditional practice, emphasizing the continuing dialogue between redundant and emergent media.
Interacting with these forms are installations, publications, kinetic works, monitor based and projected works. AgB has been successful in helping graphic artists to re-evaluate their main practice and in encouraging young graphic artists.
10 years on and 6 years since the last collaboration AgB is back [an 'Apres' in 2008 now for the main menu], to investigate a new decade in a new era of practice. Now new technologies are ubiquitous and a natural part of each artist’s everyday practice it is relevant for AgB to reflect on the possibilities and concerns of current discourses.
